Sour Slush Rush – Boozy Rainbow Slush Cocktail

  • Author: Sam

Description

Sour Slush Rush – Boozy Rainbow Slush Cocktail is a bold, colorful frozen drink made with three sour-sweet, layered slushes: cherry, sour apple, and blue raspberry. Each layer packs a punch of fruit flavor and just the right kick of booze! Perfect for parties, summer hangouts, or anytime you want to impress with something that’s both fun and delicious. Clear cups show off the vibrant stripes—this one’s a visual and flavor explosion. Make it once, and you’ll be hooked!

Ingredients

Scale

Red Layer (Cherry Bomb)

  • 1 cup cherry Kool-Aid or fruit punch

  • 1½ oz cherry vodka (or regular vodka + splash of grenadine)

  • ½ oz grenadine

  • 2 cups crushed ice

Green Layer (Sour Apple Lime)

  • 1 can frozen limeade concentrate (12 oz)

  • 1½ oz Green Apple Pucker

  • 1½ oz Smirnoff Sours Green Apple Vodka

  • 2 cups crushed ice

Blue Layer (Island Punch Lime)

  • 1 cup blue raspberry punch, Gatorade, or blue Kool-Aid

  • 1½ oz blue curaçao (or blue raspberry vodka)

  • 1 tbsp lime juice (optional, for balance)

  • 2 cups crushed ice

Optional Garnishes

  • Sour rainbow belts

  • Gummy worms or bears

  • Sugar rim (for extra flair)

Instructions

  • Make the Red Slush:
In a blender, combine cherry Kool-Aid, vodka, grenadine, and crushed ice. Blend until smooth and slushy. Pour into the bottom third of each clear glass and freeze for 15–20 minutes to set.

  • Make the Green Slush:
Rinse blender. Blend limeade concentrate, Green Apple Pucker, green apple vodka, and crushed ice until slushy. Gently spoon or pour over the red layer. Freeze for another 15–20 minutes.

  • Make the Blue Slush:
Clean the blender again. Blend blue raspberry punch, blue curaçao, lime juice (if using), and crushed ice until smooth. Carefully top each glass with the blue slush layer.

  • Garnish and Serve:
Add sour rainbow belts, gummy candies, or a sugar rim to finish things off. Serve immediately or freeze again for up to 1 hour before serving.

Notes

  • Freezing between layers is key to keeping the colors distinct. Don’t skip this step!

  • Crushed ice works best for that smooth, fluffy slush texture. Ice cubes tend to blend unevenly.

  • Want it stronger? Add an extra half-ounce of vodka per layer.

  • Making it for kids? Skip the booze and double up on the juice or Kool-Aid in each layer. Still just as fun!

  • If serving at a party, consider blending the slushes ahead of time and storing each in separate containers. Then just layer when you’re ready.

  • Serve in clear plastic cups or mason jars to show off those beautiful rainbow stripes—this drink was made to be seen!
