Ingredients
-
1 oz grenadine
-
Crushed ice (enough to fill the glass)
-
2 oz pineapple juice
-
1.5 oz coconut rum
-
1 oz blue curaçao
-
Optional: 1 oz mango juice or orange juice (for an added sunset layer)
-
Garnish: orange slice, maraschino cherry, or cocktail umbrella
Instructions
-
Pour the Grenadine
Add 1 oz grenadine to the bottom of a tall glass. -
Add Crushed Ice
Carefully fill the glass to the top with crushed ice to help separate the layers. -
Mix Pineapple Juice & Rum
In a shaker or cup, combine pineapple juice and coconut rum. Stir gently. -
Create the Yellow Layer
Slowly pour the pineapple-rum mix over the back of a spoon onto the ice so it floats above the grenadine. -
Optional Sunset Layer
Gently float mango or orange juice between the yellow and blue for a golden-orange effect. -
Top with Blue Curaçao
Slowly drizzle blue curaçao over the top using a spoon to complete the ombré.
-
Garnish & Serve
Finish with a cherry, orange slice, or a fun cocktail umbrella. Serve immediately and enjoy the colors before sipping!
Notes
-
Crushed ice is key for keeping the layers from mixing too quickly—skip the cubes if you want that picture-perfect gradient.
-
Pour slowly and use the back of a spoon to gently layer each liquid. A steady hand makes all the difference.
-
To make it non-alcoholic, use coconut water instead of rum and a blue sports drink or soda in place of blue curaçao.
-
This drink is best made fresh, but you can prep the components ahead of time if making multiple glasses for a party. Just layer to order!
