Ingredients
-
1 cup Mountain Dew (chilled)
-
2 tablespoons unflavored gelatin
-
1 tablespoon sugar (optional, for added sweetness)
-
¼ cup vodka (plain or citrus-flavored)
-
Gummy bear silicone molds
-
Dropper or squeeze bottle (for filling molds)
Instructions
-
Bloom the Gelatin:
Pour chilled Mountain Dew into a small saucepan. Sprinkle unflavored gelatin and sugar evenly over the top. Let it sit for 5 minutes so the gelatin can bloom. -
Heat Gently:
Place the saucepan over low heat and stir gently until the gelatin and sugar fully dissolve. The mixture should be clear and smooth—do not let it boil. -
Add Vodka:
Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly for 1–2 minutes. Stir in the vodka gently but thoroughly. -
Fill the Molds:
Use a dropper or squeeze bottle to fill your gummy bear molds. Work quickly, as the gelatin mixture will start to set as it cools. -
Chill to Set:
Refrigerate the molds for at least 2 hours or until the gummies are completely firm. -
Unmold and Store:
Carefully pop the gummies out and store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.
Notes
-
Want sour gummies? Toss the finished bears in a mix of sugar and citric acid.
-
Try flavor swaps like Code Red, Baja Blast, or Voltage for new twists.
-
Flavored vodkas like lemon or lime pair wonderfully with the soda base.
-
These gummies are mildly boozy, but still best served responsibly.
-
Store chilled and avoid freezing—they don’t handle thawing well.
-
A light dusting of cornstarch helps prevent sticking if you’re stacking them.
